Question Headlights / Fog-light mod QUESTION

Okay, just did the fog-light mod last weekend. I did the full manual control option. I just discovered something and I have a question.

Now that I have full manual control of my fog lights, I can turn them on and off whenever I want, even without the keys in the ignition...which, BTW, is very cool!

Now, my question lies with my headlights (this may be kind of hard to describe). Normally if you have your headlights on and take your keys out of the ignition, your lights stay on until you open the door, then the lights go out (saves the battery). Mine still does this like it's supposed to. BUT if I turn my headlights from the on position to the off position and back on again (all without the keys in the ignition), the headlights work WITHOUT the key in, just like the foglights...brights and all! Did this happen before I did the foglight mod or is this a little "side effect" of the fog light mod? I just never tried this before I did the fog light mod and was just curious.

Thanks,
Andy

Did you do the foglight mod for Tundra's with or without DRL's? Also when you say "if I turn my headlights from the on position to the off position and back on again (all without the keys in the ignition), the headlights work WITHOUT the key in, just like the foglights...brights and all! " is that with or without the door open and after auto-turnoff has occurred?

Thumbs up

I believe this was like that BEFORE you did the mod. That "from the factory" gives you the ability to turn on the headlights even if the keys are not in the ignition should the need arise. Turning the switch on and off will put the switch into the "manual mode" thus allowing you to turn them on and off seperate from the keys being in the ignition. Sorry the "mod" can't take credit for this one.

BTW I like the "fog light mod" as well, sure is nice to be able to turn them on ANYTIME.

SATundra,
Thanks for the sanity check! You know, speaking of the fog-light mod, everytime I see a Tundra with that mod done here in San Diego I wonder if they are TS members? I actually saw a red Tundra this morning on the way to work with his fogs and corner lights on....looks nice. I see one about every week that has the fog-light mod, among other things of course! I always check their windows for a TS sticker, but so far I've come up empty!

Thanks again,
Andy

Hey Glenn!

I have the DRL's disabled via the "quick disconnet" by the battery. I first figured this light trick out out after my auto-turnoff had taken place. I was in the truck and had it running with the door shut, I kept my lights on, shut the truck off, opened the door (lights turned off) and then I turned the swith off, then back on and they worked.

Thanks,
Andy
