Default AC light blinks in stop and go traffic

I first posted this question 2 years ago. I joined the forum today in hopes of investigating this problem further...

"My 2000 Tundra V8 does a weird thing. The AC normally works well, good and cold. However, if I get stuck in traffic, like waiting several cycles to get through a traffic light, the AC light starts blinking and the AC quits cooling. I know there is a sensor of some sort to protect against a frozen compressor, but not sure how to adjust it or whatever. I bought the truck last June, and it has done it since the beginning.
I did put on a new idler pulley and serpentine belt last year when the pulley got noisy. It did it before, and still does it now.
Any help would be appreciated before i have to go see the stealer..."

I have been to the dealer (Sterling Mc Call) and their solution is a complete new AC system for $1855.36!!!!!!!!!!!!!

This is crazy. The AC still works fine unless it idles for more than a few minutes, then the light blinks and the compressor quits.

I'll put up with the problem until the AC quits altogether before I simply hand over the cash for a complete new system. Does anyone have any idea what could be causing the problem, and how ot fix it short of installing a complete new system? Thanks very much for any suggestions.

Symptom - Binking of A/C indicator
Suspect Area
1. Compressor
2. Drive belt
3. Compressor lock sensor
4. A/C amplifier
