This is a discussion thread titled "TACOMA:Anyone Added 2nd Fog Lamp Switch?", within the Electrical & Computer Systems forum, part of the Technical & Vehicle Assistance Forums category.
So my switch came in today but no pigtail
dealer parts guy shows connectors for every switch BUT fog lamp go figure
now what
it has four tiny flat pins
he wouldn`t let me clip the harness off a truck on the lot
guess I`m off to the wiring diagrams and ..........radio shack???? for connectors or maybe just solder the wires on anyone got a microscope and a pair of tweezers I can borrow?
what was wrong with the previous switches in other year tacos? why did EVERYTHING have to be "all new"?
__________________ The list has gotten way too long
I added a pair of KC 6x9`s to the grille guard and want to use a factory fog lamp switch since I have two vacant spots
Everythings wired up and running with a temporary switch
The 05 switch has four pins and I can`t find anything in the wiring diagrams that tells me what goes where
all the switches I`ve ever dealt with have three connections-power in/power to acc/and ground
the fourth connection is probably a headlight power source since the switch is lighted when the headlights are on
Guess I`ll get out the tester light and go to work on the other switch and figure it out.
If anyone can help Thanks
It is done
Took some detective work but wasn`t too hard to figure out
I modified an unused connector (clutch cancel?) in the dash for the switch, local electronics store had continuity tester and small connectors for testing
Two of the pins are for headlight power in/ground for switch illumination
The other two are power in/out for the relay
Piece of cake
Can you post a diagram of which pins do what? Even a rough sketch would be helpful.

I should have taken pics as I did it but didn`t think about it as this was a three day research, headache, PAIN IN THE BUTT project as the connector for this switch seems not to exist.Luckily my truck has a 4 pin connector behind the dash that wasn`t being used and fit with only minor modifications.
I`ll put up a pic of the switch but until then:
as you look at the open side of the switch with the connector side facing left the two top pins are headlight power in/ground for switch illumination
and the two bottom pins are power in/return for the relay
basically two seperate circuits
hope this helps
we need the connector part #
the #`s off the existing connector were no help
my local dealer is working on his factory rep to come up with a connector for this switch but if anyone has any leads I would appreciate it greatly
btw the wiring diagrams and connector database in this forum were spot-on
exactly what the parts and service departments were showing on their computers
THANKS couldn`t have done it without you

How do the switches mount in the dash panel? Are they popped in with clips or something else?
Yes, there are keepers top and bottom-depress them and out comes switch
Here`s the switch it is inverted from the way it mounts into the dash for visual purposes
the top 2 pins are headlight power in/ground
the bottom 2 are relay power in/return or power in/out to lights if no relay.Be careful these switches are NOT heavy duty I would highly recommend using a relay.
The round thing is a tiny bulb for illuminating the switch
also included a rough sketch of the wiring diagram
and a pic of the connector that dosen`t exist
