Question turning off maintenance required light

im coming up on my first 5000 miles on my 05 Rav 4 and my maintenance required light keeps coming on everytime i start my car. i dont know how to turn it off and im doing the maintenance myself. ive looked in the manual but it only says to reset the light... doesnt say how to do it. anyone know how to reset it, please let me know. thanks ;0)

1. Turn the ignition key to the “OFF” position
with the odometer reading shown.
(For details, see “Odometer and two
trip meters” on page 108 in this Section.)
2. Turn the ignition key to the “ON” position
while holding down the trip meter
reset knob.
Hold down the knob for at least 5 seconds.
The odometer indicates “000000”
and the light goes off.
If the system fails to reset, the light will
continue flashing.
