This is a discussion thread titled "Pop&Lock Tailgate lock is a great product", within the Electrical & Computer Systems forum, part of the Technical & Vehicle Assistance Forums category.
Installed the lock yesterday in about 30 minutes. Very easy and works great. It does make quite the thunk though when actuating.
Actually, it is quite nice as I use to tell if my remote actually locked. And, the "thunk" is nothing compared to the very loud "wap" sound of the Grand Marquis rental car I got today.

I think I'll tack on to this thread rather than start my own...
I just finished the install of electric tailgate lock from Pop&Lock. This thing is great! Very well designed and a great mod to install. I'd say this mod is a no-brainer. I think I paid $70 for it and it took about two beers to install (an hour).
The Red-Blue & Red-Black wires mentioned above are correct for the 2006 model DC as well.
Yes, just installed a Pop&Lock on my 2005 Tundra DC and it fits perfectly with no modification to the OEM tailgate lock. Mine is also the PL8500.
The instructions that came with my lock were not for my Tundra so I had to use the wiring diagram listed in the electrical forum.
I wired it to the IB5 connector harness behind the Driver kick panel. It's the gray one. I tapped into the driver door lock motor which is Blue-Red (10) and Red-Black (2). The green wire from the Pop&Lock motor goes to the Blue-Red wire. If you mix it up just reverse the wires so the tailgate lock is in sync with the door locks.
Hope the above information helps. This lock is awesome. Easy to install and works like a charm. Definitely should be factory included!
Thanks ptchan5! I just installed my lock this afternoon on my 06' DC limited, but must have got old instructions. They used the wrong wires in their instructions. Even the website gave the one correct wire and one false wire. The key is the blue/red striped wire and the Red/black striped wire! thanks again, works great.
