It can take up to a business day as it is a manual process. But your status has been updated to a TS Supporter already. Thanks for Subscribing.

You want to know how to program your alarm? here's all the info you need: http://www.romaniatoyotaparts.com/viprsalin.html

If you don't want to read all that, here's how to turn off passive arming:

turn key to 'on'
press and hold both remote buttons for 2+ seconds
press and release the top remote button twice
turn key to 'lock'

that's it... and I won't even charge you 12 bucks

I wish i had found you before i paid the 12 bucks but 12 bucks is really no big deal. I am sure i will get much more information from that garage area. Here is my problem. I did exactly as you said and once again as soon as i walk away the damn alarm sets itself again. I don't know what to do. I am having a trailer hitch installed tomorrow, guess i will have to stand over the guy with my remote in my hand because as soon as he drives it around back, gets out, and walks to the back to start installing the hitch, the alarm will have set itself. I don't know what to do now. Will try it again tomorrw i guess. I knew this whole free alarm thing was too good to be true although it is nice but i just don't want my alarm set while in my garage and some other situations as well. Thanks for the help.

OK thanks for that information. I will try again tomorrow. Does it say whether or not having the door opened or closed matters while doing this re coding. Thanks

Check the Audio/Video & Security FAQ. There is a link to it in the Audio/Video & Security forum in the "Garage". On the "Alarms, Keyless Entry & Remote Starters" page follow the link to "Programming the RS3000 System ".

If that doesn't work for you email me (please include your TS name) and I can send you the 25 page Owner's Guide (2+MB)

I find that if I use the remote key to disarm the alarm, then open the door, then shut the door it doesn't rearm itself. It only seems to automatically rearm itself when I disarm, but don't open anything. Of course, I've never trusted this system so much that I've left the keys on the front seat just to prove my point!

Enjoy... and the 12 bucks was way worth it. You'll get a wealth of information from this site.

OK now i got it. Thanks everyone, I was finally able to disarm that passive arming feature just by doing as y'all had told me. I think when i tried it last night I had not gotten the sequence down right or had not completed it in 30 seconds and this time i did it with the door open not that it mattered but now NO more passive arming. It only arms when i manually do it with the remote. Great thanks so much.

Default LED & error in posted instructions

I did the RS3000 "hook up" today. I purchased a led from Radio Shack & hooked it to the clear, 2 pin connector, as shown in the Garage instructions. However, I had some problems programing it & went to a link provided by another member. When turning the auto door lock function on or off, you should start with the driver's door open, not closed, as posted in the garage. I have asked NHPARROT to send me the entire manual on the RS3000.
By the way the led will only work when wired to the correct wires. I had mine wired backwards & it would not work. I switched the two wires around & it works fine.

Sweet deal, but I wish Toyota had mentioned this!!

Default Another successful alarm mod!

This has got to be the easiest alarm "install" ever. I followed the instructions from the garage section FAQ and it worked. I might get an LED now and put that in also. Well worth the $12.

Thumbs up Yes

Did the install (if you can call it that) yesterday. I also turned off the passive activation, as I don't lock the truck much at home. GREAT TIP.

Thumbs up Many Thanks!

Yes, rllanes.

Myself & hopefully many others will take advantage of your post. I knew that the install & programming instructions were available in the garage, but I had no idea that my Tundra already had the entire alarm system installed, except for the LED & glass breakage hardware. I had been browsing the net, looking for the best price on the VIP 3000 alarm & I would have been really pissed to have found all this out, AFTER I had spent $200+ for a LED & GBS! Many Thanks!!!!

Default RS3000 parts info?

Since I 1st read this thread, I've looked into buying the dash LED and Glass Break Sensor (GBS) without having to pay the $220 for the upgrade kit. I checked at a couple of Toyota dealerships and they want about $20 for the dash LED (which includes the microphone for the GBS), but don't sell the GBS for the Tundra. They do have them for other models for around $100, but they didn't know if they were the same as the Tundra's. Even at $120 for the pair its still high dollar, although not as high as the $220 kit.

Personally I'm going to pay the $20 for Toyota's LED (with mic) so I don't have to rig something and also just in case I find a cheap source for the GBS. Spealing of that... Does anyone know the part number for the GBS or the company that makes the RS3000 for Toyota? Maybe there is another source for this part without having to pay Toyota's markup.
