Default Call me crazy...

I did it without disconnecting the battery and had no problems. It is not required for the alarm to work, its a safety issue. I'm not recomending that you do or don't, but just wanted you to know that disconnectiong the battery may reset some things like your radio presets, CD changer memory, clock, etc. (basically most eletronics with a memory).

I recently purchased a 2000 tundra with keyless entry. Unfortunately, I did not get the remotes with the truck. A friend of mine gave me a spare remote to use on my truck (an extra one from his tundra) but how do I program it? Any imput would help save a trip to the dealer. Thanks

Jayamiller, you can ask for a photo copy of the installation instructions from the service department. if they dont, then you can try this:
1. Insert key and turn to "ON" (not ACC)
2. Press and hold both buttons at the same time for over 2 seconds until the status monitor LED turns on.
3. Press and release the top remote control button twice.
- be sure to perform this step within 30 sec after completing step 2.
4. Turn the ignition switch to the "lock" postion. (the piezo "chirper" chirps three times, and the exterior lights flash three times)
NOTE: if you do not turn the ignition key to "lock", or exceed 30 seconds during programming steps, the STATUS MONITOR LED will turn off, and the previous operation mode will remain unchanged.

hope this helps, Id still try and get a copy from the service department coz it gives more detail on programming.

You'll have to look around and possibly remove some dash panel pieces and check for another plug-in connector.

If somebody does disconnect the battery, be prepared for some loud noise when you reconnect it. I did it that way 'cause I didn't think about it ahead of time.

I just bought a 2001 Limited similar to the one I totalled a month a go. When I bought it, it only came with one key and no remotes. The dash, where I used to have my toyota alarm located, is just empty and has an LEd light in its place. I do not know anything about the alarm history of this vehicle, however, I do have the two remotes from the previous truck. Is there any way I can avoid spending the money on a new alarm either toyota or after market. I can't live without keyless entry and would love to have an alarm. I tried the advice for the guy with the one remote, as posted below, but it didn't seem to work. Anyone else been in the situation I am in, who could possibly give me some feedback? Thanks. Jarrett

I just wanted to say I just found this mod and think it's a great mod for so cheap. I also wanted to confirm the GBS part #. On the romanian site, linked previously in the thread, it stated a different model #. And it is over $100 on the site. I did order the GBS and Status monitor with the part numbers below from rednspeck. Will this give me everything needed to get the full RS3000 alarm, so I will have activation if someone breakes my glass. I ordered them from Conicelli Toyota Parts Center, Partznet.com. The price was $17.32 for each part and $6.25 shipping. They won't have the parts in for a few days, but I guess I can wait. These guys are the only ones that would even look up the parts for me. I called many dealerships as well as online places and no one would help me.

Default Part #'s

Enclosed is a scan of the packaging that the GBS ECU and Status Monitor came in if anyone wants to verify. Anyway I feel like I just got ripped off by my local Toyota Dealer if someone else only paid $17.00 for each part. Oh well, guess its better than paying for the alarm when I bought the truck.

I have a 2002 SR5 with the VP Convenience Package W/ Keyless Entry.

I set up the RS3000 Plus with instructions from the garage and it works. I want to add the Sensor and GBS which I have.

I have the Toyota Intructions that I downloaded. The V5 harness has the 8P connectors on it that you switch with the ignition switch. I can not find the GBS wire and Status monitor wire from the V5 harness.

tr4a,

On my truck, the connections for the GBS and led were located near the fuse box on the left hand side. Follow the harness with the V5 sensor towards the driver side of the vehcle and you should see the blue and clear plugs.
