KC Light switch supply wire- battery or high beam?
I'd like to activate the KC driving lights I just installed with the high beams. The instructions say that I need to attach the switch supply wire to a 12 volt power source- the high beam wire on my headlights if that is how I want to activate the driving lights. Then there is a note: "If you want to activate your lights through your headlight system, please contact your dealer to ensure compatibility with your vehicle. Many vehicles after 1999 have circuits that are controlled by on-board computer systems and may not allow additional electrical accessories to be tied into factory wiring."
So the question is, on my 2005 Tundra, can I attach the switch supply wire to the headlight high beam wire without frying something?
Re: KC Light switch supply wire- battery or high beam?
You MUST go through a relay first if that is the main 12v wire going to the lights. You can use the high beam wire to control a relay that will then supply the KC lights from the battery. Read at the top of this section on "How a relay works" if you are unsure about them.

Re: KC Light switch supply wire- battery or high beam?
Thanks for the reply, tooldud-
The wire in question would be the wire that goes from a power source to the switch, which then goes to the relay. I've got the relay hooked up to the battery, as you described. My concern is the wire that is controlling the relay- will this do any harm attached to the high beam light rather than the battery?
Thanks again.

Re: KC Light switch supply wire- battery or high beam?
You should have no problem there. The relay only pulls a very small amount of currrent. That is the whole idea behind them.
