This is a discussion thread titled "Xenon Headlight Bulbs", within the Electrical & Computer Systems forum, part of the Technical & Vehicle Assistance Forums category.
I've tried 4 different bulbs in mine,
including the ebay Xenon, they came with a 10 year warranty,
1st one burned out in a couple months, these were 100 watt, but didn't cause any problems and I keep my headlights on 100 % of the time. The color was great, but didn't illuminate well enough.
I'm using the PIAA 80/80 super whites now, they put out the best light by far of anything I've tried. They are pricey, but I'm staying with these.

Tundragawd, thanks for the tip-www.4wheelparts.com.I called them, but the guy who answered the phone said he couldn't tell which bulb the Tundra took without a part#.Sounds like I didn't get the 1st string parts guy, heck, that is what they are supposed to do.Any idea what the part number is?Thanks,Charlie
Don't know how else to say it. Just hate to see you guys through out $70.00 for a couple bulbs that are GURANTEED to burn out in a year or less!
I've gone back to the "factory" bulbs and at least they illuminate the road and don't burn out after a few hours of actual use. I'll upgrade to a good halogen bulb later, but for now, the factory bulbs will do.
(And yes, I did like the light of the PIAA Super Platinum . . . just not worth spending $70.00 a year on!)
I just bought some Xenon Headlight Bulbs and am a little hesitant to put them in. I have been reading the forums and there are a few people who have burnt out the wiring harness.
The bulbs are H4-100/90W and 9006-80W
I'm running Super Plazma Xenon H4-130/100w & my fogs are Super Plazma Xenon 9006-100w and i don't have a problem. granted most of my driving is during the day & i disabled my DRLs but not problems here (knock on wood). if my math is correct, i think you'll be fine.

should I be ok?
Like Tundrabear I have the PIAA's that I think are equal to 130/110, but draw 60/55 watts. However, to be on the safe side I also bought the upgraded headlamp wire harness from Stylin' Concepts for highoutput head lamps. They are each on a seperate relay and direct from the battery, to give me that piece of mind and it only took me about 15 minutes to install.
The fogs are next!!!

Oh by the way, "Batteries are included" with the Prius & Highlander Hybrids

Over the years as I have been reading these threads, the general info seems to show you can run about 80wt bulbs max. on the toyota wires. They are fairly small and to pull much more amps you might need to go through a relay. More than 80wt might invite a problem.

What is the aftermarket wiring harness and how much was it???? I've been looking for one of those for over a year now, since the PIAAs I installed FRIED my connectors!! (I was running the exact same lamps as TundraBear - be careful and check your connectors!)
high_rpm - Do a search for Xenon or HIDs and you'll most likely find about a dozen threads on this topic! Be careful is all I can say - and I hope you've got about $70. to spend every 2-3 months 'cause they just don't last!
I got a set of Phillips 9006 HID complete set from a friend for free...however, do any of you have an idea of where I could use them. They are 6000k so they are pretty bright...any response will be appreciated.

When I talked with Autobulb Depot, where I got my PIAA's from, they told me they never had any problems with the PIAAS, but they had with other brands, but I still opted to get the upgrade harness from Stylin' Concepts to be on the safe side. Works great.

Anyone out here in TS land tried the Sylvania Silverstar bulbs in their truck? They claim to be 20% brighter than stock bulbs. I am thinking of ordering some, but it would be around $100 to replace all four lights (2 head & 2 fog).
Just curious.... If anyone has tried them let me know! Otherwise, I'll have to be the first...........
