This is a discussion thread titled "APC titanium bulbs/euro tail lights", within the Electrical & Computer Systems forum, part of the Technical & Vehicle Assistance Forums category.
i bought the euro taillights (clear -red -clear) and i knew i had to change the turn sgnal bulb to an amber one. after going to pep boys and strauss auto i had no luck finding the 3156 bulb # in amber that i needed. then i hit the local speed auto store ,had to order the apc titanium in amber for $6 ea. maybe i paid too much but i just wanted to hurry and get this done! i didnt know these bulbs were like a silver color but when u turn the signals or flashers these lights look awesome. i recommend this upgrade
Tunda, I just purchased those taillights on e-bay, and was wondering if I should use red or amber. So you just got the #3156 flasher bulbs in red? Are they just as bright as the amber when flashing? Thanks. Randy.
I put some of those chrome - plated bulbs in my clear corners, but they really weren't bright enough. However, they weren't the APC brand. Are the APCs brighter?
p.s. I found a place that has the APCs for like $5.50 or so ea., but am hesitant to buy them.
Hey Gedenke, I bought the Sylvania Silverstars bulb for the clear corners, they are bright as OEM, but have a bluish chrome tint so that your clear corners don't look like egg yolks. I give them a big , they do light up as amber too. I got mine from SUVlights.com, but I'm sure you could get them at any parts store.

I wasn't aware the the Silverstars came in #3157. How do they compare to the headlights? I tried the headlights and took them back...I wasn't about to pay $20 a piece for such a "slight" increase in brightness. Oh, by the way, the reason I didn't like the chrome bulbs I got, is because when direct sunlight hit they, you could barely tell I had my blinker on. They were fine at night.
They do come in 3157 among other style bulbs. They are branded as Sylvania Silverstars, but these are the turn signal bulbs, NOT the headlights, so they are not any brighter than OEM. Their claim to fame is that the amber coloring is hidden from view by the bluish chrome tint, I believe the correct term is "dichroic". When off, the clear corners appear clear. When on, the amber color shines thru as bright as the stock #3157 bulbs. I have no problems in any weather, the amber is as bright as OEM.
BTW, did you ever swap out the LED's in your stock HU to blue, and how hard is it?

If you mean the stereo head unit, no. I got some pretty detailed instructions from networkguy (don't think he's a member anymore) and it's a fairly involved task, including about 50 or so micro SMD LEDs (cheapest I could find were like a buck each) and a lot of soldering. The dash and ac panel are done, though, and look ok.
