I purchased the upgrade kit, and a very helpful parts person sent me the install documentation for this vehicle and kit. I can make it available if anyone needs it.

Question: the install requires programming changes, the doc says using the Toyota Scan Tool. Is this something I can do with one of the PC/PDA based scan tools, or must it be done by the dealer?

It looks like the programming can only be done by a dealer, or at least by someone with access to the Toyota Scan Tool. I visited a local dealer today and they did it for me without charge.

The service guy said that the programming would be lost if the battery was disconnected. He was quite certain of this. I find it very hard to believe that Toyota would do this. Pretty much everything has memory backup in it these days, even the radio. At some point I guess I'm going to have to disconnect the battery just to find out if it really does revert to no RS3200 alarm upgrade.

Has anyone else any experience with this?
