This is a discussion thread titled "04 DC Keyless entry-to-Alarm upgrade", within the Electrical & Computer Systems forum, part of the Technical & Vehicle Assistance Forums category.
Hi guys, I've been looking thru all the posts on the keyless entry to alarm upgrade and have come to a conclusion... I'm confused!!! There is so much good info out there but I keep hitting the same end... "The 04 Double Cab uses a diff alarm system "
So, my question is... Is it possible to upgrade the 04 DC keyless entry to full alarm? If so, what parts are needed and what documentation do I refer to?
Thanks so much to all those who contribute to this forum, and thanks to anyone who can maybe set me straight on this issue.

There is not a factory upgrade path, but either SET or GST Distributor areas have a Securikey based upgrade kit. There is always the aftermarket route.

I believe SET and GST refer to the Southeastern and Gulf States Toyota dealership regions. Last time I checked (at least a year ago), it involved some pretty extensive computer and wiring harness changes. The main components needed for the alarm system are not present in the keyless-entry-only system. If cost is an issue, as it is for most people, you'd do much better with an aftermarket system. The dealer might have a more reasonable option now. That's the first I've heard of the Securikey kit. Post back here if you find anything. Thanks!
FYI
GST is Gulf States Toyota and SET is Southeast Toyota, these are the 2 private Toyota Distributors in the US. They often offer accessories that are not available in other areas of the US
