Angry Keyless entry beep?!

Does anyone know how to turn off the keyless entry beep? You know, the one that sounds every time you lock or unlock the doors?!! Thank you for your input

read the owners' manual for the alarm/key less entry. should show/tell you how to make it silent.

You can also slide on over to the TS FAQ section and read all you would want to know about programming the system.

I think he's asking about the keyless entry w/o alarm.
It is quite loud... I live in a condo complex, and the 3rd day after I had my truck home my neighbor complained about it waking him at 4:30am.

To answer the question... I used a single strip of electrical tape. It is barely audible now, but it CAN be heard in a quiet place so I still get audible feedback.

Option #2 - Unplug the thing.

The beeper is a small red thing wrapped in foam located in front of the brake booster. It's just kinda hanging there on the harness with a reusable tie-wrap holding it in place.

Either way. Changing the piezo "chirp" settings should work for both the keyless entry and the alarm system.

Changing the "Piezo Operation Mode" will turn off the chirp, but will leave the blinking of the lights for visual confirmation.

I agree that the Tundra chirp is way too loud. My wife has an 02 Camry that has identical tone and style, but is about 5 times quieter. Thanks for the info on where that sucker is, I'm gonna muffel it.

I found that the 2003 Tundra alarm is based on the RS3200 so any programming instructions based on the RS3000 won't work anymore. I did find instructions for the RS3200 on the web but it doesn't list any way to shut off the chirp.

Why don't instructions for the factory alarm come with the truck??

IF you have both keyless and an alarm.
If you don't have an alarm, there is no setting for the chirp on the keyless. I've got "Lock", "Unlock", and "Panic"

How do I go about changing the Piezo Operation Mode to turn the beep off? I have keyless entry with no alarm.

Rlockyer,

Are you sure about that? I had a '97 Toyota with just the Keyless entry and was able to change settings. When I bought my '00 Tundra I couldn't get just the Keyless entry, I had to get the factory (or go aftermarket) alarm sysem that includes the keyless entry.

I have no idea what they've done with the RS3200 on the '03s, and I'm surprised they went back to (just) a keyless entry option. Have you tried changing the settings or do you have the pamphlet that came with the system? Just curious.

We lost the remote on my wife's car (Nissan) and I bought a new remote that I programmed in much the same manner as the Toyota system. I would think they all have similar programming features.

bigger,

Have you tried leadsleads instructions below? How about trying them and letting us know if they work.

Mine came with keyless only... don't know if it's standard for all or just the SR5. There's no separate pamphlet... I'll have to scan the owner's manual.

I'd try them, but I have no "bottom (light)" button... just lock and unlock on the front and panic on the back.

If I press and hold EITHER button the transmitter's LED flashes, pauses, then flashes again, repeating until I release.
If I press BOTH buttons it only flashes once and stops, so I suspect that it's not transmitting.

Someone else mentioned that they went to the dealer to complain about it and the dealer disconnected it and replaced it with silicone grease and a special plug/cap to protect the contacts.

I'd just prefer a lower volume... I like the feedback that it provides.

I have had two 03s (long story) both limiteds.
on the first it listed the alarm option on the sticker, the second did't and when I asked the dealer, she said that it was a standard feature and pointed out the alarm light on the left side of the steering collumn. I haven't tried the instructions given here but the owners manual didn't address the alarm system.
I hope this works because the beep is annoying and the auto locking feature is desirable.

Try this to activate auto-lock on the 2003 Ltd. My truck came with this feature set to off.

1. Open driver door.
2. Insert key into ignition. Turn from lock to on 5 times. Leave at on. Should get 1 chirp.
3a. Close the door. Turn key to lock. Get 1 chirp. Activated.
or
3b. Close, open, close door. Turn key to lock. Get 1 chirp. Deactivated.
