Engine & DrivetrainDiscussions about the engine and drivetrain of your vehicle.
This is a discussion thread titled "Straight Pipe Truck", within the Engine & Drivetrain forum, part of the Technical & Vehicle Assistance Forums category.
I am gonna straight pipe my truck, y-pipe no muffler or resonator. I know my check engine will come on because i do not have enough backpressure. WIll this damage my engine in the long run? And i have heard of fake 02 sensors, can i order them and it will solve the problem?

The check engine light will not turn on just because you removed the muffler and y-pipe. As long as the oxygen sensors are still connected and in the same locations you will be fine. The check engine light will not turn on either due to a lack of backpressure, there are no pressure sensors in the exhaust.
