How to tell if oil is synthetic???

When i bought my truck from the dealership the sticker in the window says that it has mobil 1 oil in it. I was wondering if there is any way to tell if the oil inside my motor is synthetic with out seeing it being put in or asking the dealer.

No practical way. Even a standard lab analysis won't be definitive. CSI could analyse it, but you won't want to pay that bill.

Had to have some motor work done on my truck last year. Told them it had Mobil 1 when I took it in. Several things led me to believe that they did not put mobil 1 back in it. I put a about 500 miles on it and just went ahead and changed it. ---Buzzard
