Default Stroking the 4.7L Tundra

I have an 06 Tundra DC, 4x4 that I love. The only complaint is I would like more grunt out of the engine from idle to 3K rpms. No easy way to get this since the supercharger is no longer offered. Long tube headers may help but at $1200 plus labor I am not interested. Has anybody had any experience with stroking the 2rz-fe? Lexus-Toyota V8 Performance Forum offers a 5.2L stroker kit and I have seen others up to I believe 5.5 or 5.6L. I would love to see some dyno results out of a stroked Tundra!

No doubt this would provide the torque you are looking for, but installing and debugging it to run properly under all conditions would likely be challenging.

Have a look for some tweaks from a fellow called "Thundera" who had a 4Runner with a few bolt on mods. He discovered the 4.7 runs far too rich at heavy loads, and by installing an electronic sensor conditioning device, was able to recover substantial amounts of low end torque without prohibitive expense.

The 5.65L stroker kits are rated at 450BHP, and aren't some cut crank poorboy nonsense. These cranks start off with hardend 9310, and then a number of vairous elements are added at the foundry including chromium and vanadium to result in what I can gurantee is the hardest crank ever put into a street automobile.

What kind of performance gains would you see installing the stroked crank assy in an otherwise stock engine? I assume an overbore is also required for the 5.65 liter displacement as well. Compression ratio? How would the stock ECU deal with the added displacement? What I would love to see is a dyno comparison between the stock 4.7L and a stroked 5.65L in an otherwise stock engine. Who makes the crank, rods & pistons? Cost?

Unless you want to sell your first born, this thread is a dead end. $7800 for the kit! Ouch! Add time/cost for pulling engine, dissassembly, bore block, re-assembly etc...You could have nearly 9K in the project before you realized it!

Sounds like an engine swap would be much cheaper.

That's high end HP, my friend There's also an unproven cut crank that might be making it to market sometime within the next decade, folks can always roll the dice on that one.

Thanks again!

Eric
