Default Is a Larger Resonator actually Quieter?

My limited understanding is that larger mufflers are generally quieter.

Does this hold true for RESONATORS?

Here's the background story...

I developed a rattle within my resonator which makes itself known at higher RPMs and harder acceleration. I like the quietness of my truck. I've been looking around in the aftermarket for a replacement resonator, and one of the very few I've found was the Aero Turbine AR25 and AR30.

The AR25 is 4" diameter with 2.5" pipes. The AR30 is 6" diameter with 3" pipes. They are both 10" in length.

It was mentioned here that resonator and muffler designs are targeting to suppress specific frequencies.

But is a larger resonator, by definition, also quieter?

Sorry for the babble. I guess I can call Aero Turbine on Monday too.

Thanks.

a larger res. would be quieter. but you don't need a larger res. if you're useing a muffler after it.
