2000 Tundra-Where's The Thermostat

Just wondering where it's located and how hard it is to replace.

just follow the upper radiator hose to where it attaches to the engine. Three 10mm bolts hold down the housing. you will want to drain a little coolant out before removing it.

I was following your other thread regarding tranny fluid and tranny problems. I will do the following, buy new radiator, thermostat and good Hayden heavy duty ATF cooler.

1) Drain the radiator and block of coolant.
2) Replace thermostat and possibly the upper and lower radiator hoses along with the pressure clamps if you have money to do the job thoroughly.
3) Flush the radiator with fresh Toyota coolant.
4) Install a new Hayden cooler for the ATF, there must be enough space to install it and hook up the return line in series with the cooling from the radiator.
5) Flush the entire tranny and TC with fresh ATF.

Then only go into investing $2500 on the tranny.

I know this is a little late, but I thought I'd add to this based on my experience with my 2000 Tundra V8 (2UZFE engine).

I found the thermostat in my truck by following the bottom radiator hose. The hose was connected to a die-cast part with 3 screws (I used a 12mm socket that is now somewhere in the skid plate). I had to remove the hose to get to the bottom screw.
