I had my front diff replaced and all fluids in the transfer case, trans and rear diff changed. WOW. What a difference. Very smooth and quiet. No noises at all. Gained a little MPG also. The diff was replaced and when tore down there were problems but the tech said it would have gone for years before not working at all. Silent in and out of 4 wheel drive. No hum or vibration. It is like a brand new truck. I got the front aligned to DJ's specs and that made a big difference on the highway.

The noise on turning left and right turned out to be a broken stabilizer link. I am sure getting that fixed help with highway tracking also.

Well...just got my truck back and the vibration seems to be gone. They replaced a bunch of bearings in the front diff. Here is a thread to the part numbers: Front diff part numbers...making sure i didn't get SCREWED by the dealership

Cost me $750 (but that was only 1/2, the stealership paid the other half since I olny bought it 1.5 months ago).

Somehow I still feel like I got screwed though.

Time will tell if it is truly fixed.

check the carrier bearing in the middle of the drive shaft. the rubber boot could have reached the end of it's life. also look to see if there is any grease splatter.

If it was the drive shaft, it would not go away when in 4wd...since the driveshaft will always be turning.
