I have my truck since the beginning of December and shortly after that I developed a vibration up front on the passenger side of the drivetrain. You can feel this vibration through the floorboards and gas pedal from 30 to 45 mph, I have been to the dealer twice and first they never felt the vibration and the second time they acknowledged the vibration but could not determine the problem. I don't want to spend my first couple of months with the truck going back and forth to the dealer and have chose to live with it till the spring. The dealer has posted a 'product flash report" in their system and according to them if toyota Canada receives 4 or 5 of these with the same issue of vibration they will investigate the situation.
Anyways I'm dissapointed I just sold a 89' Toy extended cab 4x4 and was extremely pleased with that vechicle -> no vibrations as such but now driving a new truck for the past two months and feeling this vibration I can't help but frown, I'm disappointed. Just venting I guess and wonder if anyone else feels the same with this issue or any other issues of dissapointment.

PS: This vibration seems to be really prominent when it is cold out or the vehicle has been sitting overnight.
I have had the vibration you describe for almost 50k miles. Started at 5k and then got slowly more noticiable. Has now stabilized and is always there. There are a number of threads on the board discussing it. It is not cold weather related as mine does it spring, summer, fall & winter. It is less noticiable when switched into 4wd. Folks who are using synthetic in the diffs & transfer case, do not report this problem. My next step is to try synthetic in the diff & transfer case.

So...they jsut left it at that? They don't want to try to solve the problem for you at all?? I would try another dealer or call Toyota and tell them what you were told. You paid good money for a BRAND NEW truck and it should drive that way. T
There are a few things people have done that may help you. One being the alignment of your drive line. If this is out of alignment it could cause the problem you are talking about. I don't know where the fix is that describes it. Glenn...do you know what I am talking about? This maybe something from BC (before crash).
Some folks have check the alignement of the driveshaft. I specifically had my dealer check that more than a year ago. STill vibrates, my dealer has acknowledged the problem, but has no resolution.
Just to let you know I have the same problem in my 2003 SR5 4WD. It started to get worse couple of weeks ago. I only have 1k miles so far. Just like yours it vibrates the worst around 30-40 mph. I am going to take it to the dealer next week, but I am afraid I am going to get the same answer as some of you.

Wow, so there you go, it is a problem throughout, you can check the other forums (engine & drivetrain etc) vibration is also talked about there and a search on "vibration" also has results. What's going on, why no fix, people throughout have gone and reported to dealers the same, is Toyota quality slipping on quality and even further why aren't they following up on the problem? Wow what a "treat" spend good money on a new vehicle and experience this at the start!
I own a 2000 Toyota Tundra Limited Access Cab TRD 4x4 ,Sunfire Red with oak interior . Ihave the cloth interior instead of the leather because I have had several vehicles with leatheer and did not like it. I say all of this because I was a avid Chevrolet Man for 7 years and had a 1985 Chevrolet short bed 4x4 with 225,000 miles when I sold it . I thought if a chevrolet would last that long and I enjoyed it as much as I did , then a toyota would last virtually forever! I WAS WRONG! I have had the front and rear brakes replaced 3 times and the truck still vibrates, the transmission went out at 54,000 miles and today I took it back to the dealer to again try to fix the vibration. The service manager told me that they could not fix the problem at this time. He went on to tell me that they believe that it is not the brakes after all! He said that they think it might be in the rear leaf springs! He said that when you stop that you will sometimes notice a pop sound or a clunk niose in the rear of the truck. that ,he said, was the leaf springs relaxing. He told me if you could take a camera and attach it to the bumper at the rear that when your truck bunced you would see the rear diff. bounce up and down because of the leaf springs! I went on to ask him if that would cause premature wear of the rear diff. or if it would wear the driveline out or even wear the shocks out ! He said he did not know! He advised me to take a innertube and fill it with sand to hold down the rear of the truck so it would not cause the truck to bounce ! I did not realize I bought a SAND HAULER!!! I currently to date have 88, 980 miles on my Tundra. I know that this may be long, but when you pay that much for a truck you want high quality and a vehicle with hopefully little or no problems! Because of this "adventure" I will not be purchasing another Tundra in the future.
I dont brag about this truck like I did with my last one, toyota is definitely slipping in my book. I just purchased my 2003 tundra (sr5 4wd TRD) at the end of December 2002 and have had similar vibration problems since then. The problem is definitely the worst between 30-40 Mph and stops completely if i engage the 4wd. This vibration is cyclical in nature and has been more noticeable when the truck is the coldest.
I just had the local dealership look at this yesterday and they say that there is nothing wrong with the truck and that there are no vibrations outside of the "acceptable limits" establised by toyota, but I have to call bull@#$% on this one. I traded in a perfectly good '93 toyota pickup and got this crap to deal with on a brand new truck that now has only 1800 miles on it.
If anybody gets any new info on this problem, please post it.
The 30-40 mph vibration is pretty much standard equipment on these trucks. People have traced it to the front drive shaft. There is some viscous coupling of the front drive shaft and transmission causing the front shaft to spin a little even when 4wd is not engaged. Since the front driveshaft and rear drive shaft spin at a different speed, you get a vibration. People have gone under the truck and duct taped the front drive shaft in place, which when test driven reduced the vibration. You also will see recuced vibration with the 4x4 engaged. Search for this topic, it's been discussed here for years. There is also a rumor that the 2003 owners manual makes mention of this someplace.

You guys are scaring me. I’m at 2800 miles and still running very smooth. I hope it stays that way. I don’t recall seeing any thing about this in the owners manual but I will look for it.
V8Toilet, your truck is 2wd, you shouldn't get any front drive shaft vibration . In fact my old 2wd 91 was a much smoother running truck than my Tundra is. Much harsher in terms of ride quailty, but light years ahead in terms of vibrations. My truck has had the vibration almost since new (now at 48K). I just ignore it, it dies down when the truck warms up. The topic came up with the regional service rep when I was riding with him complaining about an unrealied issue. Toyota knows about it, he said they get a lot of complaints. As to why they don't fix it?????? There are a lot of little issues with the Tundra that Toyota doesn't seem to interested in fixing. -Bri
