Default Re: WOW! Fram vs Toyota oil filters

If you do not have anything better to do, cut the can off of a Fram filter and look at the construction and the material of the filter and parts. Then do the same for the brand you decide to use. Once you see how and what is used inside of the Fram, you will probably never use another Fram oil filter. Just my opinion.

Default Re: WOW! Fram vs Toyota oil filters

I have used Fram and Purolators in my Tundra since day one, and changed the oil (dyno 5w-30) every 3500-4000 miles. I have 142k miles now. The engine seems clean enough. Oil is cleaner on my changes coming out than any other vhicle I have ever owned. I have noticed a reduction in oil pressure only recently when I flipped back to Fram from a stash of Purolator filters that I was using for a few years. Seems to be a more recent thing with Fram filters (redux in quality). The Frams have really thin walled filters now too I have noticed (changing them out they crumple if I use a lever and strap type filter wrench). I will flip to using OEM engine filters from TRD Parts.
