Post Why Soo Long To Warm Tundra Up??

I know this has probably been discussed many times before but ever since i installed a flowmaster to my v6 tundra it seriously takes 4 or 5 for my tundra to warm up, if i dont wait that long and take off it ends up staying it first gear and just idleing wayy too long, is there anything i can do to fix this, is there anything wrong or is this just normal,., 1 more thing, this happens almost every time i start my truck, not just in the morning, thanks in advance --NIck

Your truck warms up faster if you're driving it than letting it idle to warm up. I usually let my truck idle for approx. 1 minute just to get all the oil circulating then off I go. Seems normal to me, atleast here in the freezing temp.

I usually start my truck up and let it idle for about 30 secs and take off. Unless, my girlfriend wants it warm before she gets in, then I start it and blast the heater until it warms up the cab.

Maybe a stupid question, maybe not: do you have your AC on? Or is your vent switch set to the defrost position? On the tundras putting the switch to the defrost position runs the AC compressor, even though the light doesn't come on. Helps dry the air out to defog your windows faster.

I've actually unplugged the connectors from the defroster. So, when I put it on the defroster, the AC compressor doesn't turn on.

Actually I wasn't thinking about the AC cooling the engine as much as it increases the idle. I've noticed if I have the AC on when I start the truck, the idle jumps pretty high and stays there for a little while, even if the truck is already warm. But if I turn off the AC, or turn off the defroster, it doesn't have that same jump in idle.

Then again I'm running the V8 so what my truck does may be different than yours since you have the V6...
