Default just blew my 3rd rear end

Tonite i blew my 3rd rear end in a row. Thinking of upgrading to something bigger because the truck is too powerful for the stock small rear end. Anyone else blow rear ends in the tundras?

first time i blew up the spider gears, the second i junked my ring and pinion, and now i havent gotten to take a look at it yet but by my previous experience i think the spider gears are garbage. i want to maybe see about getting a new axle thats more heavy duty maybe a chevy 10 bolt nothing too serious but enough to stand up to the torque alittle better than the stock toyota rear ends.

Either you have some very serious mods and/or are using them, or your mechanic is incompetent. Setting up rear ends is not something to be done by an amateur/hobbyist.

I've only had the lock right pins break on me. Right before my driver side axle shaft blew. In anycase, after about a 1.5 years, I switched my spider gears for a lock right and had no problems other than what I just mentioned. Running 4.88's and 35" tires. No other issues.

Having gone through 3 third members, I thing something is wrong with either the install of the parts (bent housing, bad third, something). Or you are on the skinny too much when off roading.

As the motto goes: "Build it, wheel it, break it, fixt it". It's a viscous cycle and an expensive one to.

what axle would you recomend for an upgrade while still keeping the stock indepent front suspension. i would love to do SAS at the same time but it would be impractical for me because there is nothing too serious around here that my truck cannot handle.

You are probably just spinning that open diff way too much off-road.

You probably don't need a whole different axle set up, just the correct internals for when your wheel. Spinning one tire off-road because of an open diff all the time will take it's tole.

Look into a Powertrax No-slip, or a Lock-rite like dyogim suggested.
