Default A couple S/C questions

OK. I've used the search function and can't find any answers to the two questions I have regarding the supercharger. So don't hang the newbie !

1. For those with the s/c, what's your MPG ? With the price of premium into the stratosphere, I'm having a hard time justifying the money for an s/c just to end up with horrendous gas mileage on expensive gas.

2. How loud are they ? Running through the woods, I don't want to sound like a jet from 3 miles off.

Thanks for the info, guys (and gals, too !)

Steve

Steve,

I haven't actually clocked my mileage since I got my SC installed. A full tank before the SC would get me about 290 miles city driving--after the SC I'm averaging about 230-245 for a full tank. Keep in mind that when I fill the gas I don't wait till the light goes on , I usually fill at a quarter of a tank-- so that leaves a lot of room --probably an extra 15-20 miles. I don't think you'll loose much on gas. I am hurting due to these gas prices going sky high--around my area, $2.09 a pop- for premium.

Sound is not an issue unless you have an exhaust--- if your keeping the stock exhaust it won't make a great deal of noise. All you will hear is the SC whinning like a toy. I have a Flowmaster 40 with split pipes -- and my truck is LOUD at full throtle.

IMO it's worth it.

I haven't measured my miles per gallon either. All I know is before my S/C I was getting about 300-315mpg for about 1/4 of my tank left. After my S/C I am getting about 280-290mpg with 1/4tank left. Now I have the V-6 and also I don't get on the gas as much. Especially since the gas prices have been going up.

Default S/C Mileage

17.8 mpg average over the first 7500 miles on this 03 v6 5spd. I log odometer and gallons at every fill-up. No difference before/after installation of the s/c. No difference in the exhaust sound, either...had Magnaflow with single-in/dual-out pipes installed the day after I drove it off the lot.

My neighbor has asked, though, when we plan to install runway lights for the new 747...
