Default VIN Number on Engine Block?

I've got a friend who is looking at buying a used Tundra. I'm going to help out by making sure everything looks OK.

I have one question, is the vehicle's VIN number engraved anywhere on the engine block? I looked at my Tundra owners manual and it said something about there being an separate engine number on the block but I'm wondering if the actual VIN number is on there somewhere. I want to make sure that the engine that is in there now is the same one that was there from the factory. Any way to find this out??

No. The VIN # is not engraved on the engine block.
The engine serial number is and is located (on the V8) at the top/front/center of the block. If you follow the top rad hose in and look just to your left with a flashlight you will see a 7 digit number with "2UZ" above it stamped into the block.
It's going to be a little tricky to tell if that is the original motor.
I kept everything from my purchase of the truck and only on the "Memorandum Invoice" that shows the factory installed equipment did I find my engine's ser #.

If you find "DOT" somewhere on the engine serial #,that means it's a factory replacement engine.
