Default TRD Duals and Mileage

Can anyone comment on whether they noticed a change for the better or worse by adding the TRD duals?

This would be on normally aspirated V8.

Is this mod worth the $590 the system is currently?

Is there much of a change in decibal levels or loudness at cruising speeds, ie Freeway or running around town?

I like a quiet ride, so is this the wrong mod for me?

Thanks in advance.

I put my duals on and I noticed a slight drop in mileage but that was because I was driving it harder so I could hear my exhaust. My mileage returned to normal when I drove it normal. I do think it is worth the money. It is a high quality system.

Around town it is louder. You can hear it then. Which is fine with me. It is not overbearing though. On the freeway it pertty much dissapears. Which is nice because it wont wear you out on a long trip. It is still a bit louder on the freeway though, but not a whole lot. It is a lot louder outside the cab than it seems to be inside the cab.

I'm not sure if this is the mod for you if you like quiet. This is the mod for you if you want a great sounding exhaust that will let you hear the V8 and you still like quiet. I guess you need to decide how much you want exhaust. Personally, I wanted really wanted exhaust but I also don't mind quiet.

mswaz,

My mileage stayed about the same after the TRD exhaust. The first couple of tankfuls it was less because I kept my foot in it. ONce the novelty wore off my mileage was back to normal. I get 17+ in the warmer months, 16+ during the winter months. My overall mileage since new is 17.25mpg.

At highway speeds the TRD duals are not much louder than stock. Around town town it is louder but (to me) not unbearable.

Best I can tell and what I have read on this forum, there are not significant performance gains with the TRD duals. Something like 9 hp.

I do think they look good, and it is a mod that makes my truck stand out from some of the others. Of all of the Tundras I have seen in Central VA, I have not seen another with a TRD exhaust. I have seen some with other duals.

Would I get them again? Yes. Of course expenditures of this magnitude have to be cleared with my better half. Now I need to convince her I need the headers.

Good Luck,
Jeff

I live about an hour and half north of Richmond and I've yet to see a see a TRD exhaust on any Tundra. And I pass about a half a dozen daily. With this $580 shipped deal, I think I'm going to go ahead and order one this week even though I haven't heard it in person.
