engine makes funny noises

When I first start the car and drive, the engine makes this sound.. it's kinda like if I were to hold a baseball card in the spokes of the moving bike tire. I'm thinking its one of the belts.. help! thanks

Need more info. Does it continue to make the noise after it warms up? One easy test for belts is, while the engine is running and making the noise, drop a few drops of water on the belt. If it quiets the noise, then you found it. Just did this the other day to the wife's Corolla.

If it always makes the noise, and it's not a belt, I'd first look for something on or around the fan. I had a Camaro that sucked up a plastic bag...

Just thought of one other thing. A torn belt can make a flapping noise.

That sound is (was) your neighbor's cat. Sometime they get under the hood. The pelt is tapping the radiator fan shroud. Clear it out and hose it down.

Engine noise filtering through torn steering shaft boot?

Also, try searching "ticking sound" and you'll get a lot of people who are experiencing the same noises, including myself.

Cold engine noise when you accelerate can be from a cracked exhaust manifold or leaking exhaust manifold gasket.
