Default vibration

Has anybody found a cure for the vibration between 25-40 mph
in a tundra 2002 4 wheel drive? worse in cold weather! I am about to file arbitration because of the run-aroud from the dealer!
my truck dosen't have 10000 miles on it yet! they keep telling me that there is no fix for it! THE VIBRATION IS UNDER THE FLOOR BOARD ON THE DRIVER SIDE!

Moderators Note: Thread has been moved to the Engine & Drivetrain Forum for better exposure and replies. PM was sent to the thread starter of its relocation.--- Possum

Have you tried synthetics in the diff & transfer case?

Jeffrey,

I you haven't done so already, relace front and rear diff lube with synthetic. I had the same problem and this did the trick. No more vibration.

Jeffrey,
Yes ALOT of us do also. I have a 2002 4wd Tundra. It's had the same vibration since new 04/2002. Toyota is well aware of the vibration in the 4wd Tundra and Sequoia! Its mentioned now in the 2003 owners manual. It says, if you feel a vibration due to front transfer case oil being cold, engage the 4wd till you feel its warmed up. My tundra still has a vibration in the summer, though not as bad. I have read mixed results of synthetics helping this.
It the one and only thing I don't like about my Tundra!

VIBRATION IS UNDER THE FLOOR BOARD ON THE DRIVER SIDE!

Jeff:

.....And so is the front propeller shaft. You might try greasing the U-joints. When I did, I found some very stiff grease in those joints. I purged the seals using Amsoil No. 2 lithium complex synthetic grease and put Mobil 1 75W90 synthetic in the front differential and transfer case.

My 02 4x4 doesn't vibrate even at -10F.

Before engaging 4WD to stop a vibration, it would be wise to consider that this system is a relatively light duty, part-time 4WD that is intended for use on low traction surfaces such as ice, snow, mud, wet grass, and perhaps loose gravel. The hallmark of a good tire is good wet and dry traction. Operation in 4WD under high traction conditions can do more harm than good and may result in vibration all the time.
