Default Let's say you blew up your '07 Tundra's engine and tranny.

Let's say you lifted your truck and messed around with things to the point where you voided your waranty... and then blew up the engine and or tranny. Now you have to scrap it or replace/rebuild the engine and/or tranny. Or maybe you just blew up the engine.

What engine or engine/tranny would you throw into your CrewMax?

Would you purchase the Toyota engine? Would you consider another replacement? What'll fit there?

The 5.7 + Toyota 6-speed automatic combo would cost $10,000-15,000 grand to replace unless you could find a 2007 Tundra that was recently totalled in a rear end traffic accident.

The Chevy 350 (5.7 L) V8 + GM transmission combo is a popular swap for old Toyota Land Cruisers. Of course, a Chevy 5.7 can't come close to matching the power of a
Tundra 5.7

chevy 5.7 won't do what?? Don't get me wrong, I love my Tundra, but the 5.7 has het to really prove itself. The Chevy small block is hands down one of the greatest engines ever built.

First to congratulate him on what, exactly?

It's a hypothetical situation intended to spark dialogue.

My toyota's 5.7 is running fine. It sounds like it is a diesel, though. I have heard others say this, too. I lifted it and want to keep moddin'.

But, if the dieseling indicated an issue, and I think I already scewed myself on the warranty, then I was thinking, "why buy the same problem twice".

To me this truck was all about the interior room, the fact that it is Toyota, and the looks (I knew I was lifting it right off the bat).

I would like to stick a standard tranny in there should the engine turn out to be garbage (I hate the noise it makes).

Thanks to all.

Who doesnt like the diesel noise? And it really doesnt even sound like a diesel. Start up a 5.7 and then go drive and actual diesel. No comparison.

Ok, it doesn't sound like a diesel... just a little maybe? Mine does, just a little I think... and it makes my think that something is wrong.

last time i checked we didnt have engine and tranny combos good for 700hp..sorry. If it was me ls6 with heads cam and intake gets about 450hp and 422 ft lbs. and the back it with the 4l80e. on another note that hino engine is a killer one. the 8.1l turbo diesel concept for the tundra 1 ton dually. not a dually fan but those 22.5 alcoas look great.
