Default Redid exhaust for Supercharger

I switched to a larger exhaust to help the supercharger. Ever since I got the charger, I said that it pulls like a banshee till about 70mph, then it tapers off real quick. I thought that this was due to the small pipes that I was running. I went The Muffler Shop in Henderson and consulted to the tech there. He highly urged me to not go duel exhaust, but to redo the y-pipe to 3" then run through a muffler and 3" out. I still opted for the duel exhaust pipes to the rear since I love the look so much so he put in 2 1/2" pipes out the rear, this time using aluminum steel so that it would not rust like the pipes that Best Muffler Shop used. The truck now lost about 1/2 psi of boost when running, but now I feel like I got power all over the place, and it did not fall off at 70 and over like before, it just pulls all over the place. It makes sense that the pressure fell off since my system flows better now, but man the whole thing feels much stronger than before.

Will post pics tomorrow!

So are you winning any races, or losing? How about the kid whose dad had the '99 Lightning?

I thought you had a true dual exhaust before. If you took off one second from your 1/4-mile time with that setup and a slightly modified intake air box than WOW!

Default Honestly

I think what made the biggest difference also was the cold air, and the fact that I was not bogging down that day, or spinning my tires like the other time I ran. Also I did my old racing day trick of Icing my intake right until I ran the truck. I guess I should have said that before, but if you are into drag racing, you probably have seen tons of guys doing this. It is usually good for anywhere from .2 to .3 second improvement. When I run next Friday, I am going to do at least 2 dry runs, before icing my intake, and letting a little air out of the tires to see what I can do at a maximum. So don't be surprized if my times have huge spaces between them, especially since traction is going to be a big issue. So I really think that I might have gotten about .5 second true performance gain from the airbox, and catback. The biggest thing is to open the exhaust but be real carefull how much depending on your application.

Our intake manifolds are really nice to ice down, since it is sitting right on top of the motor, and you can get about 4 to 5 bags of ice on it. I had one on the back of the manifold, 3 across on top, and one laying the long way on each side. I am taking my camera with me to the drag races and will have pics of that, plus pics of other cars and whatnot! I also removed the metal throttle body cover so that the 3rd bag lays across that pretty good too. It's almost like running nitrous, just cooling down the air! Nitrous is super cold when sprayed in the motor, and it drops the air temps down about 100 degrees or more. Multiplying the oxygen level in the motor several times. BOOM!!!!!! huge power gains!

It just like those guys that have the waterboxes built in on their intercoolers. Just poor ice water in them when racing. When done, drain out the water. I wish that I could apply some type of intercooler on the truck, but I think that would void the warrenty, and I don't think that this truck could handle too much more power without beefing up the transmission and rear end. I don't know, I will probably run nitrous when my warrenty runs out, that should be a kick! I just raced a guy this morning in a 92 f150 standard cab, and he blew my doors off! We stopped and talked and he has a basic 5.8l V8 with headers and exhaust. Everything else is a 250 shot of nitrous. He said that he had the block tapped for 4 bolt mains, and a gurdle on the main bolts. He is probably running about almost 500 hp in a standard pickup. I mean this guy just blew me away. He said that he is going to track day also. Just when I thought that I had one of the fastest coolest trucks in Vegas, someone comes along and BAM!!!!!! yous a sucka!

is what us posted close to the end!

What gives? Or did I understand wrong.

351ci 5.8L V8, with Nitrous will nail just anyone with a S/C.

Correct me if I'm wrong!

You confused me with the "vegas" part! I thought that this was someone you knew or something,

You are right, much bigger motor, smaller truck, and a whole lot of nitrous!!!!!!!!!
