Default Lockers or..

I am going tonight to see about getting a 03 Tundra and have a couple questions. Can I get the locking dif with the TRD package or can I get it as an option? Has anybody put ARB air lockers in their Tundra, if so how much did it cost? I noticed a couple of you have put in the Lock-Right locker, which I also thought about putting in the 4 Runner. I am asking because the last Toy I owned was a 91 4 Runner that had open diffs and would get hung up darn near everywhere and I don’t want that to happen with this truck. I do not 4 wheel but we do get snow and I hunt where a 4 wheel drive is needed to get in and out. If it rains or snows while hunting I want to be able to get home and not have to spend the night there like I did in the Runner. Any information is appreciated.

You might want to look around the engine and drivetrain forum here (actually, the mods will probably toss this thread there shortly). There have been numerous posts on lockers and posi's over there.

I believe you can just get limited-slip from the factory with the TRD option. This would certainly help but isn't a true locker.

ARB does make lockers for the Tundra though, front and rear. They are about $650 or so per diff, and $125 for the compressor. Plus any labor charges. I've heard people state that it cost about $1800 to have lockers installed front and back

Kev42 - We don't "toss" threads or posts unless they don't meet posting guidelines.

utah - There is no factory option for a locking diff. You can get the standard open diff or an option limited slip (lsd). Folks have installed other diffs

Do a search on "locker" or "ARB*" or "diff" you will come up with a number of informative threads.

I guess I should have said move rather than toss, as I was expecting someone to move the thread into that forum as it's topic better fits the topic of that forum. I've seen mods organize threads like that in the past. Nothing derogatory meant by it. I just figured Utah was a fairly new member and was trying to give him a heads up to the fact that it may be moved.

If your gonna do lockers.. Get a open differential truck and save some cash. If you have a shop install it, have them regear your truck as well. It coincides and there is no labor charge. 4.56 would be peppy for 33's
