Red face How many want to try a Hydrogen converter on their Tundras?

I was approached by my cousin who wants me to try and put a hydrogen converter cansiter on my truck. Basically has a water tank for the water source and it runs through a device in the engine compartment which converts the water to hydrogen for injection.

Sanosuke!

Sanosuke did a brief explanation, but can somebody break this down a little further, and put it into dummy terms?

Yeah I saw that. They did claim it was making hydrogen, right? Just not enough to fuel the engine out of the thing they made.

Then they had a proof of concept with a compressed cylinder of hydrogen and the engine ran fine on it.

I've done a few searches and have not found any legitimate sites offering the conversion. Smells like it's too good to be true; at least for the time being.

This came up a while ago:

Anyone daring enough to try this!

I got in a fight with the guy from the Website of HHO, I presented 100% facts, and he responded with no facts at all.

The part of the video that cut off is at:

It's not like the google video provided a link to it... oh what, it did!

Not really on topic by any means (i apologize) but if your burning the hydrogen, wouldn't you be releasing oxygen and not water?

Actually, the oxygen recombines with the H in the atomsphere, thus the water byproduct.

Don't want to break anyone's rice bowl here, but if I remember
my physics this doesn't seem very plausible. Consider that you have to put energy into water, two hydrogen atoms and one oxygen atom, to break it down into hydrogen and oxygen. With energy loss because of system thermodynamic inefficiency and Newton's old physical principle of conservation of energy, the amount of energy produced in burning the hydrogen would be less than that expended to generate it. When hydrogen is burned (a low tech word for oxidation), each hydrogen atom combines with two oxygen atoms to make water again.

If we ever get to a hydrogen energy system, we will be using a lot more energy to disassociate hydrogen from water than we will get back from burning the hydrogen.

No, I'm not a physicist, just a dumb engineer (the kind who applies physics to make things work) who took physics and thermodynamics a long time ago.

That's what I was also thinking, but on the Dodge Ram they were just using an alternator to supply the power to the hydrogen generator. I am sure that if the system does work that the oil companies will buy up all of the patents and destroy all of the prototypes. After all, how could they make a profit selling water?!
