Engine & DrivetrainDiscussions about the engine and drivetrain of your vehicle.
This is a discussion thread titled "Shifting has turn into a jolt. Help!", within the Engine & Drivetrain forum, part of the Technical & Vehicle Assistance Forums category.
My transmission will shift from 1st to 2nd with a jolt. It feels like the truck is not in gear when it is in between shifts. What I mean I will start to take off and then it will start to shift from 1st into 2nd. At this point it used to go into second smoothly, but it sorta pauses right between the gears and then slams into second jolting the car. I am do for a 60k service which includes a transmission flush. Would a transmission flush fix this problem? Is my transmission going out? any help will be appriciated.
same problem that people had when thair trans went out. no fluid change will help this. get this checked bu the dealer if within the warranty milage,or a good trans shop if not.
If you don't have 60K yet, then rush, don't delay getting into the dealer NOW! 60000mile or 3year powertrain warranty.
Your trans and/or torque converter may be going out. Mine did
on my 2000 at 83000miles. And, I know of others that have failed too. (2000models).
Remember guys, I have a lifted truck, I have bigger tires, I have a straight 1-ton drive shaft. Even if I was in warranty they wouldn't warranty it with all those mods. They would use a stupid excuse. I have 65K on my truck so I will have to pay for it.
TT - I was having some hard shifts. I went in for a 45K service and found that I had shaved the most rear zerk fitting on my driveshaft off. all the fluid had leaked out but was not all over the truck.
I bought a new zerk fitting and lubed the shaft, viola no more hard shifts.
Have you been 4x4ing lately? Check the grease in the shaft, ofcourse along with the tranny check.
