Engine & DrivetrainDiscussions about the engine and drivetrain of your vehicle.
This is a discussion thread titled "New tundra Engine", within the Engine & Drivetrain forum, part of the Technical & Vehicle Assistance Forums category.
I was wondering if anybody could tell me how much a 2000 toyota tundra V8 4.7 engine would cost. My 2000 tundra's engine burnt up and I am just wanting to find out how much it would cost to get a new engine put in because the truck is still in great shape.

On ebay, a 2UZFE (the 4.7L V8) is going on average for about $1800.
All a man really needs for happiness in this world is a good woman, a faithful dog, and a big-a$$ed set of tires on his truck.

I would buy it from the dealership with the 3 yr warranty on it. I MUST emphasize the ebay buying option should NOT be explored, there are dangerous unethical folks out there doing business with unassuming folks like us...
I don't think that I would consider buying something like that on ebay either. I probaly will get it from the dealership but I was just trying to find a rough estimate of how much it would cost.
No mistake. For your V6 Highlander the MSRP Price for the engine is $14,189.30 and the 28% discount price is $10,216.30
Your transaxle has a MSRP price of $2,793.00 and there is a core charge of $1,000 if you don't have a rebuildable core.
All good reasons to use factory parts, filters and fluids and servicing intervals. Can you picture Amsoil paying out $14,000 for a new engine + $2,000 for the installation if an owner followed Amsoil's advice of extending oil changes to 15,000 - 25,000 mile and then the engine developed mechanical problems?
Some ebay sellers are actually recycling yards, just check their feedback ratings and other info before doing any business with them.
Try a local junkyard,if they don't have any they can most likely locate a used engine that has some kind of warranty (very limited though)
