Default First Oil Change

I have always made my first oil change early. Just something I learned from my dad. While I do not do it as early as he did, I like to do it around 1500 miles.

My Service Manager told me that was not necessary.

Any thoughts as to when this first oil change should be done?

1000 (dino), 2000 (dino), 3000 (Dino), and 5000 to synthetic. 3000 to 5000 after that - synthetic.

Necessary?...No. Good idea if you plan on owning your vehicle for along time?...Yes.

One or two very early oil changes removes any manfacturing dirt and debris and breakin metal particles that are present inside your engine. A 5000 mile change of the differential lube is good for the same reason.

Agree with KLS.

Changed the Hornet's oil & filter @ 900 miles. Then used the dealer's free oil change coupon @ 2,300 miles.

Time will tell if your particular truck you bought off the lot is a good one. An early oil change was just peace of mind for me & intend to keep the truck about the average 250K miles & 9 years which has been pretty much the norm for my Toys.

Cheers,
