Engine & DrivetrainDiscussions about the engine and drivetrain of your vehicle.
This is a discussion thread titled "Tundra, Tacoma, and 4Runner V6", within the Engine & Drivetrain forum, part of the Technical & Vehicle Assistance Forums category.
I can't imagine why one couldn't as long as it actually fit in the engine compartment! You know the Tundra has to have plenty more room than the Taco or 4Runner if they're packin' a V8 in there!
Hmmmmm, I had thought about that with K & N FIPK and was of the understanding that the CARB approved one for the Tacoma would not work in the Tundra due to the intake setups. Which is why I patiently wait for the approval on the one for the Tundra.
No news still, it seems that the aftermarket is not too accomodating to the V6 Tundra. Just like the header situation. No one even wants to think about making them. JBA says they have no plans whatsoever. TRD is still the only one available.
I have also been calling around to Aftermarket companies about the comparison on all three Toyotas and they all say the same thing. The 4-Runner and Taco can share the same accessories but the Tundra can't. You think that they would just say yeah, sell the parts and let us find out on our own. But when the companies won't even agree that it won't work then you know theres gotta be some kinda difference. Case in point, headers, Chips, intake. These will work on 4-runners and Taco's but can't be used on Tundras. I guess I'm gonna have to get the girlfriend a Taco and play with that. I just can't leave anything stock. Its a terrible sickness .
I think the only difference in the Taco,4Runner and , Tundra 5VZ motor is the ECU I emailed JAck the unichip guy and he siad he is working on a wiring harness for the V6 so there is hope.

Does anyone know if the new 4.0l is going to be chased with the '05 Taco? Will there be a new TRD SC for this engine or will the existing one still fit?
