Engine & DrivetrainDiscussions about the engine and drivetrain of your vehicle.
This is a discussion thread titled "TRD Supercharger PSI", within the Engine & Drivetrain forum, part of the Technical & Vehicle Assistance Forums category.
is the one that should be on there - changing it is not easy and voilds the warranty. Going smaller would most likley generate more heat that would undercut any gains in boost.
Also - your exhaust system affects boost - the more free flow, the less back pressure => less boost, but more power.

I know all of what you said . But my question is Does the Supercharger kit come with a 7psi pulley or higher ???
i've been told that if u go with a smaller pully on the trd s/c u will get belt slippidge. the pully on the unit is 2 inch. and i'v also been told (from a realiable sorce) that the s/c boosts abought 3/4 lb more than it regiters on the boost gadge, do to where the tapping is on the s/c fyi petros
I beleive the road to riches here is the crank pulley...just how big is up for debate. The 5.9 is the one I would want.

It comes with only one pulley for all years(4.7l), suppose to give 7 psi @ sea level. The v6 s/c was available with different pulley's...more boost for higher altitude.

8psi is 8 pounds of air pressure per square inch. The stock pulley is 2". If you go smaller on the S/C pulley, then there is not enough surface area for the belt and with the higher boost = more resistance on the S/C pulley with LESS surface area = SQUEEEEEEEEEEEEL.... belt slippage. THE ONLY way to achieve more boost than stock is a larger crank pulley. Ford Lightning, and many others do this, so it is not unique here. It is a tried and true way of getting more boost.
Lastly, the stock S/C pulley is pressed on, it can be removed, but it is a major PITA... so... larger CP is what I am doing!

Just curious what are you guys intake temps when you increase boost on the 4.7. I had the 3.4 kit and was amazed at the amount of heat that blower made. I was consistantly over 200 degree intake temps at 6 psi on a bone stock engine in my 4runner.
