Default 3 Transmission questions

Vehicle: 2003 V-8 Tundra 4x4; 3850 miles.
Questions:
1. The Purolator website lists a transmission filter for the 4.7 L Tundra V-8 (Part #1273). I assume this filter is to replace the screen in the transmission pan. Can anyone confirm this and that the filter and gasket will actually fit?
2. I am planning to install the Magnefine in-line filter this weekend. This may be a dumb question, but is the line carrying the 'hot' fluid from the transmission to the radiator & air coolers the rear line on the transmission body? and
3. If any of you have installed this filter inline, prior to the fluid entering the radiator cooler, what exact location did you place it?

Thanks folks, for your help. This form is so much more helpful than the factory manual...You ought'a be in Northwest Texas right now! Wind's gusting to 65 M.P.H. and the sky's a lovely brown...tornados dancing in the skies just North of here...

Hi, I just wanted to let you know that i had a problem with getting the right screen for my tranny. The fram has a part number #PH1283 as it turns out it was to small and did not line up with bolt hole locations on valve body.My filter on my truck is about 10 inches in length x 5 or 6 inches in width, the replacement they gave me ph1283 was like 4 inch x 4 inch.Accually i asked glenn the moderator here for some help.I origionally thought that i had a later production trans in my 2000 tundra.

Default Try ATP

ATP is a manufacturer of auto drivetrain parts.Look them up on a search engine.I have been on their web site.I have used their trans gasket /filter kit on my '02.Kit# B-211.I just got one yesterday,$45.00.Their gaskets are much better than Fram or Purolater.

Usually the front line comes out of the pump, and the rear line is the return.

I'll try and remember to check the service manual when I get home, it will probably say...

The time-tested method of figuring out which is which: Disconnect both lines, rubber band a couple of small plastic bags over the ends. Blip the starter a few short times. If it starts, kill it right away. Look at the bags. One will be bulging with fluid, the other sucked dry.
