Talked to Bob Gardner at TRD today, Bob explained that the 2003 V8 Tundra has an acceleration load limiter built into the vehicle that limits the acceleration from a dead start to help eliminate wheel spin and loss of control on wet or slippery surfaces. he claims the control affects the SuperChargers ability to improve low end accceleration. The 2003 also is listed as an SULEV (Super Ultra Low Emission Vehicle) , he said the Supercharger for 2003 has 2 extra fuel injectors installed due to the lean air to fuel condition.
2000 - 2002 1 extra injector.
Bob said that the best model year for performance would be a 2000 , Bob claims the cams in a 2000 V8 along with the computer Mapping, make for a good performing engine.
Wth the SuperCharger installed on a 2000 an 80 horse power increase could be obtained. He explained they have to work within the engine parameters, they are not able to do a ground up engine that would be designed to take full advantage to SuperCharging, the stock compression ratio is to high to allow the use of more boost, Increaseing the boost to the engine would cause pinging, resulting in a decrease in power.
