Engine & DrivetrainDiscussions about the engine and drivetrain of your vehicle.
This is a discussion thread titled "dirty engine", within the Engine & Drivetrain forum, part of the Technical & Vehicle Assistance Forums category.
You can also use "Gunk". Just warm the engine, spray it on, let it set for about ten minutes or so, then hose it off. It works quite well, but it smells like kerosene and probably isn't good for the environment. But, if it's really gooky, Gunk'll get it.
simple green & h2o, about 75-25 mix, at the diy carwash. don't spray directly at the engine, and leave the engine running while you do it. really nice shot under "my photos" of what it looked like after i washed all the mud off...the engine looked just like the outside of the truck.
When the engine is air temperature (after sitting all night) spray the engine with that spray on hose off wheel cleaner and then hose it off. It works great!
