I know that there are 4 O2 sensors on the exhaust system. I don't know about the warranty.

47k miles, got ck eng lgt. Toyota said it was Bank 1 sensor 1 O2 sensor. Wanted $250.00 for repair. Thanks but no thanks!!! Took me about 2 hrs to complete the job. The heat shield took the longest. You have got to have a crows foot or an offset O2 sensor socket (22mm or 7/8) and a long extension to get to the front sensors. You cannot get to them with a wrench or socket!!!
It is not an easy task.

Found the sensor for $47.00 at www.sparkplugs.com thanks to post on this website...you guys are the best!!!!

GUESS what????!!!! The freaking light came on again after driving a few times!!! I am hoping Toyota gave the right info.. If not, someone is going to pay!!! I am going to check the O2 elec. plug and make sure the pins are ok. Then I am going to ohm the new O2 sensor to make sure it isn't bad. After that I am going to find someone with a scanner or buy one to make sure Toyota told me the right sensor. My guest goes on.................. Wish me luck.

Default Engine Light

Bank 1 Sensor 1 is the front 1 on the drivers side. You did change the right one?
Take it back to them and have them recheck it.

Took it to Auto Zone today. They scanned it for FREE . They showed Bank 2 sensor 1 fault (155 code). I wanted to go kick some *&% up at Toyota for telling me the wrong sensor after all the trouble I went thru . I ohmed the old O2 sensor that I took out (Bank 1 sensor 1) and it tested bad per the manual. So they told me the right on after all. My other sensor went out within a few hrs or days.

So when everyone on this forum says when one goes out, the other will soon follow, they mean it! Mine went out within a few days.

Now I've got to climb under my truck and change the other one! Thanks Toyota for making it hard to get too.

What do you think of this theory?

The logic of the circuit to the O2 sensors turn on the preheater when the ohms are high (cold) right?? So if one O2 sensor preheater goes bad causing an (open circuit)...high ohms....it would cause the other O2 sensor to heat all the time thus burning out prematurely. That explains why both sensor go out at almost the same time like mine did? This all depends on both circuits being independent of each other. I believe they would be, so the fuel trim for each bank would be efficient.

I haven't looked at my Toyota manual yet to prove my theory. The manual probably doesn't show the logic in detail for the trucks computer. If anyone has time please give us the answer.

I tried to post a picture. But for some reason I can't. I hit browse, found picture, opened it, hit upload, and nothing happens. Any ideas?

The manufacturer recommends that if you replace one 02 sensor, it would be best to replace them all. Ken Towery replaced the first one. I replaced the other three. Autozone has an equivalent 02 sensor for the front two that thread onto the manifold pipe, but you have to attach the connector from the old sensor to this one observing wire locations is a must. The other two on each exhaust pipe I got from Genuine Factory Parts At Wholesale Prices (Toyota dealership, but they sale parts wholesale).

And it's always the left O2 sensor that fails!

It happened to me. about 6 months ago, I still havent gotten it fixed because well, the truck runs fine and i dont have the money to do it yet. The Dealership WAS going to cover it in the ext. warranty but backed out when i took it in for service. The dealership is run by a bunch of jerkoff's that dont seem to care at all about customer satisfaction. Go figure
