Default The Weakest Link

Any Tech Guy in here know what is the weakest link of the 2UZFE engine? What are the spec and material for the followings:
1. Crank
2. Rods
3. Pistons

I have heard there are problems with pistons and rods.

cast aluminum pistons. crank is forged steel, not sure about the rods. early tundras had piston slap.

i checked out your website, interesting stuff. i haven't decided on what type of upgrade path for my v8.

Lextreme,
If I were in your situation,I'd stick with the 1UZ block and stroke it. The 2UZ has 2-bolt crank mains, the 1UZ has 4-bolt mains (at least the 2nd-gen VVTi equipped ones). Looking at the bottom end,it'll require a bunch of machining and new caps to convert to 4-bolt. You can't even do a splayed 4-bolt conversion using the OEM caps due to their design.

Thinking about getting a Tundra short block and use the crank and pistons. I not too favor about the OEM pistons. However, the crank will be good for the 1UZFE. It has 6 bolt main. Very strong bottom end.

With Tundra Crank, larger sleeves, 1UZ rods and 2UZ pistons will bring the engine to close to 5.0 liter. I am looking for some JE Low Compression Pistons for the 2UZ. After reading some posts about breaking rods and bad pistons on the 2UZ, I am looking for more of the aftermarket parts.

Secondly, than you for visiting my site. Its solely dedicated for the Lexus/Toyota V8.
