I had the plastic on my 02 but I bought on of the metal ones from one of the guys on here who upgraded to a (I forget the name) its an aftermarket one . There where some more for sale a while back. If anyone still has one it might be a good time to clean the garage.

My '01 had a plastic plate, and my '03 has a metal one. My truck is a 2wd TRD Sport truck, not a TRD Off-Road. My '01 was just a plain 2wd SR5 V8.

I'm not too sure how different it is, but it is definitely different.

I'll crawl under and take a good look at it, see exactly how different it is.

I was impressed with how tough the plate on my old truck was, for being plastic. I ran over all kinds of stumps and crap, never hurt the skid plate itself. Ripped off a mudflap and one of the plastic wings from the skidplate, but never hurt the plate.

my skid plates right now are cracked due to my toyo dealer overtighing them
Yours must be different than my '01. On mine, there were steel ferules that the bolts went through. If you were to overtighten the bolt, it would just bind up with the steel part, no way it would crack the plate.

But the dealer techs do go crazy when they tighten those things. Every time after they worked on it, I would need either an impact gun or a breaker bar to get the damn things loose.

I have a 2000 and do my own oil changes , it has a metal skid plate with
plastic side pieces and as you remove & install them the plastic arround the
holes gets larger..I now use fender washers over the screws...I wouldn't
blame the dealer for this however its a poor design.

My 2WD SR5 is a 2002 and is all plastic on the skid plate. My dealer who destroyed the original quoted me $100 to replace the plastic anybody know how much the metal TRD or 4WD version goes for?
