Default Jiffy Lube Trans. service

I am considering using JIFFY LUBE to replace my stock
trans. fluid with Mobile 1.

I would greatly appreciate any suggestions.

Thank You,
mosleyw

Good idea, if the guy doing the work knows his job and does it right.

Will they let you watch? Do you know what to watch for?

I think that Jiffy Lube does the "Tech Trans" thing where all
of the existing (or almost all) fluid is sucked out.

As expensive as Mobil 1 is, I'll make sure that's what they
actually put in.

Do you have any experience w/ Jiffy Lube?

Heard anything good or bad?

Thanks for your time.

Thanks for your time.

They offer synthetic oil, but they favor cheap filters--Pennzoil PZ-21 which is just the Fram Double Guard with a different wrapper.

There's an oil filter comparision write-up on this site somewhere that recommended against using that filter for any reason.

Not sure if Jiffy Lube will refill you with Mobil 1. They are a subsidary of Shell and use mostly Pennzoil & Quaker State products (also subsidaries of Shell)

Default Jiffy Screwed.

I call them Jiffy Screwed. My friend had them change out his differential fluid and add the 4 oz. tube friction modifier (for limited slip diff) he provided.
Well on half way to work the next day the diff started to howl and make awful noises. He looked under the car and saw the funky color of solid friction modifier around the pinion seal. He limped the vehicle to work and put it on a lift and found they only put the 4 oz. tube of friction modifier and did not fill the diff with gear oil. The pinion bearing was shot and as a result it roached out the pinion seal. I would never let these clowns touch my vehicle much less use a P.O.S. fram filter.
Certified Technicians -- ya right!
Do yourself a favor stay away from Jiffy Screwed especially for something not routine as flushing tranny fluid.
BTW Jiffy Screwed wasn't coopertive in the matter. Because of the time and resources it would have taken him to pursue the matter he just let it go and tells his story whenever he can. I witnessed this first hand so this was a nice opportunity to share this.

That was all I needed to hear. I'll do it myself as per
Lon's Garage.

Thanks all of you for the replies.

I have a friend that lost an engine because Jiffy Lube forgot to tighten the drain plug and after a few days of driving it fell out

Default the only good Jiff is Peanut Butter!

i'd suggest finding a good independent mechanic. those franchised drive-thru shops are just like greasy fast-food joints. they're fast, but they're probably not good for ya!

They s***. Any place that won't let me "watch" what they are doing is not worth doing business with.

Understand liability issues but I look at my cars like I do my child....no doctor does anything without me there and no mechanic does either.
