Default Tundra V8 Supercharger Questions...

Hello all..... I am the owner of a 2001 Tundra V8 4x4 Limited. I am (soon) gonna purchase the V8 S/C.

I had a 1999 Tacoma V6 Prerunner V6 that had the S/C and I know what the power is like, at least on the V6. (B4 and After)

BUT.. I also know what I had to go thru in order to keep the pinging, and leaning out, and on and on and on.... Anyway... I was told that the V8 S/C comes with a piggy back ECU for a 9th injector and this setup will solve the leanout and other fuel starvation problems that plague the V6 version. Also, I know that the stock pulley on the V6 S/C was set to around 6.5psi. I Put an aftermarket 9.5psi pulley and there was a big diff. BUT.. it came at a price.. PING CENTRAL!!!! I do not want to purchase a S/C and find out it is de-tuned or set to 2 psi so Toyota could eliminate the ping or leanout problem.

1. Anyone out there done this?
2. What is your take on the S/C, Worth it?
3. Is there a 9th injector?
4. Is it a piggy back setup, or from stock ECU?

I know... I am full of questions.. but please...
Just wanna know!

Thanx for your help!

check the TRD forum.....Look for a thread titled ***the real story on theTRD s/c***** It is the Bible of the supercharger. Im planning on having one installed as well.

1. Lots of people
2. Everyone says it worth the price for "at least" 80 ponies
3. yes
4. stock ECU, you can run a piggy but wouldnt do it
4. Pinging fix = cooler plugs suggested Denso Iridiums IK-22 or IK-24

check it out..

Default Charger problems

I talked with Toyota last week, and they said they were putting a hold on the supercharger. The supercharger has been blowing the exhaust manifolds off. They want to get it buttoned down before they release them again.

Big O -- question-- this info you got from Toyota, is this a national thing? I've brought my truvk in twice due to cracked manifolds -- and I'm thinking of bringing it back -- after a two month duration , I think the manifolds are cracked again

delrmx01, spend the extra couple of bucks when you bring it back and have the headers installed. Definitely worth the money.
