Default synthetic in LSD

I just bought the LSD third member on ebay and was going to put synthetic in the rear when replaced. I thought I would email Eaton first to find out if this was OK. Here was there response;

I recently purchased a Toyota Racing Development LSD
which is your carbon lsd. I wanted to use a synthetic oil
but on Tundrasolutions there are people having "chatter"
problems when using oil like mobile 1 synthetic. This is
even after adding the lsd additive. Can you tell me if it is
possible to use a synthetic or which is the best oil to use
with this unit.

Thanks
John

John:

You are correct. Synthetic lube causes chatter in the Eaton Posi
differentials. You need to drain the synthetic lube and add mineral based
GL5 rated lube with 4 oz. of LSD additive. This will ensure that the
differential does not chatter and lives up to the high performance expected
from Eaton performance differentials.

Hope this helps anyone who is having a problem or is thinking of putting in a LSD

The factory LSD units are not made by Eaton, but by Hino in Japan.
