Default Rough Idle

Hey All,

I have a 2001 Tundra TRD 4x2. Only mod is a K&N drop in. I recently changed to the spark plugs that I got from the dealer. They said that the plugs were gapped already. At times when in gear and sitting at a stoplight, I get a little rough idle. I'm going to pull the plugs and check the gap again. But I was wondering if anyone has experienced this same problem? I also cleaned the throttle body about a month before I installed the plugs. I also run 89 octane. Any ideas besides the the gap in the plugs?

Thanks.

Loose connections on air cleaner or throttle body hose. Oil from the K&N filter contaminating the mass air flow sensor causing rough idle and loss of power.

If the engine was misfiring the Check engine light would illuminate!

Where is your tach needle when it is at rough idle? If it is between the two marks, that is where it is supposed to idle,(smooth) if it is below the lowest mark it will idle rough and the only way I know how to bring it up is bring it to the dealer. Does it idle smooth at a faster idle??

It's actually a little above the last 2 marks. I had a hose that I thought was a little loose and I clamped it down. I also cleaned my throttle body. It appears to be fine. This weekend I will check the gaps on the spark plugs just incase they did not gap them correctly.

Thanks for the reply.
