Default TSB for Tundras

I noticed that 9/02 was the last TSB. Has there been any new ones since then? Also, my dealer said that the leaking exhaust manifolds was a TSB, however it is not listed here. Why is that?

Also, I read nothing about leaking exhaust manifolds. Was one issued for the Tundra?

Default TSB Repairs without Problems?

Will dealerships perform repairs as per the TSB if no existing problem has been found, as a preventative measure? It is kind of lame if they only do it if something is wrong. I could just take my truck home and break everything in the TSB, but that wouldn't help either one of us right?

I have a few months left on my warranty and I want everything that could go wrong fixed before it expires. Is that asking too much? Any thoughts?

Unfortunatly, no-- TSB's are more of a "if it ain't broke don't fix it" --some dealers are pretty giving when repairing something that's a TSB, even if your over your warranty.

The link to BR004-02 2002-09-16 BRAKES FRONT BRAKE VIBRATION is fixed. No, there has been no TSB issued on the Exhaust Manifolds.

A couple of months ago, before my warranty was up, I asked my dealer to check to see if the rear brakes had the correct adjusters. He asked if I was having trouble with the rear brakes. I said no but I wanted to make sure I didn't have problems in the future. His answer was if there was no complaint there was nothing they could do. I got a little hot and said "Sure wait until I'm off the warranty and you will be glad to charge me $500 for something that was Toyota's fault". That's when he looked me in the eye and said "Are your rear brakes are dragging?". Took me a second to catch on but I answered "I think the rear brakes are dragging could you have them checked" and he said "sure". They did the TSB. Sometimes you just have to play the game.

I've noticed that on Toyota's TSBs, on page 1 right under the title "Warranty Information," there is an asterisk, and the following phrase appears:

* Warranty application is limited to correction of a problem based upon a customer's specific complaint.

So, presumably, if you want something specific repaired or upgraded under TSB before your warranty runs out, you must complain to the Toyota service manager - loud and clear - about that specific something. Clearly, this isn't the most honorable way of doing business but, unfortunately, Toyota does tend to lead us down this path.

I'd really like to get access to a list of TSBs for my Tundra but it seems the Service Bulletins is still down or inaccessible. Is there somewhere else I can go to get it? In particular, I'd like to see the BR004-02 TSB.

I don't think there is anywhere to get the actual TSB's for free online. You can get a list at alldata.com or here (when the TSB database is back online). However, to view the actual TSB on this site you must be a club member, to see the full text of a TSB at alldata.com requires a membership there. Note teh alldata tsb database is usually 3-6 months behind.

Due to the forum software upgrade, the TSB database is temporarily offline. It will be re-integrated with the new forum software shortly. In the meantime, if any Club Member needs a specific TSB or needs info on a specific issue, please post your requests to the thread titled "Requests for TSB's " in the Garage Talk forum.
Thanks
