Default Interior Hum

I have a bone vibrating hum in the cab at 1700-2200 rpm's. Installed a new muffler (flowmaster type) several thousand miles ago but the hum wasn't there after the install. Also seems like the range of RPM with the problem is increasing. Could there be another component in the exhaust going bad? The resonator(?)and catalytic converter are still in place.

Jeff
I had a Flomaster 40 series installed two days ago. I am also getting a hum at exactly 2K rpm. Not a loud hum, just an annoying sound. The muffler was installed behind the resonator on my 03 limited 4x4.

I also get a loud high pitch shreak when I really get on it? High rpms. You get the same noise?
Thanks Jason

Replacing an OEM muffler will change the resonance. Changing the muffler or the y-pipe (to remove the resonator) may get rid of your hum, but make the exhaust sound louder overall.

High frequency noise is not good. The vibration combined with heat can eventually stress/crack the metals. Flowmasters are obviously not tuned for the Tundra's exhaust system, due to their universal design.

I have heard only bad things about Flowmasters. Maybe you should have got a different exhaust.

It sounds better at higher RPM but unfortunately most of my driving is city. Guess I could drive around in second gear.
