Default Help Engine woes

Hey Gang,

I just started doing a 30K service. I changed oil and filter, replaced fuel filter and replaced spark plugs. I drove it to go get more parts but now anything more than 1/3 throttle the truck bogs and sputters. During the plug change I accidentally pulled of one of the hoses that goes to the charcoal canister (the hose with the green port on it). Does this have anything to do with the problem?

Any advice for stuff to start looking at would be appreciated.

Paul

Sounds like you introduced an air leak, which will significantly lean out the mixture. The other likely cause is an unplugged or damaged MAF (mass airflow) sensor, but that will usually set the "Check Engine" light.

Listen for rushing air noises with the engine idling. The breather hose from the Right valve cover to the air inlet pipe baffle pops off easily and would cause such symptoms.

Good luck!

Check your MAF sensor, unplug the battery and then hook it back up. It should reset the computer and allow the engine to run normally again. Make sure the hoses you disconnected are all connected back to the proper locations also.

Red face I get the dumb *** award

Thanks for the advice guys, but some how I figured out today that I forgot to remove the hose clamp I installed to change the fuel filter. It didn't dawn on me because the car ran fine. I was going to change the fuel filter agaion and then the light bulb came on.

I feel like a knob.

Lesson learned.
